Parents play a vital role in the education of their children. We at Seoul feel as though this is a critical partnership between the students, their families and our staff. Together we have several ways for parents to be involved in their child’s education.
We have an active Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) that hosts countless activities, fundraisers, assists in holiday planning and coordinates festive celebrations. More importantly, parents are invited to volunteer and support activities in the classroom. The PTO also provides support to implement a variety of student centered learning experiences. Not only can parents play an active role in the PTO but they can volunteer to work as a classroom parent or classroom volunteer. Classroom parents work closely with the homeroom teachers to plan and organize events for each class. This is a fun way to interact with other parents while supporting the needs of each teacher. We invite parents to help during daily lunches. Our volunteers work closely with Seoul employees in serving students their food as well as clean up. This is a perfect way for children to see their parents taking an active role in another aspect of their school lives.
Last, but certainly not least parents are always asked to volunteer as chaperones on a variety of enriching and exciting field trips around our host city of Seoul. This is a great way to see the children interact with their peers away from school, while representing KIS-Seoul. Field trips are closely aligned with our curricular content areas, which give parents a great view into the daily learning experiences our teachers provide their students.
